Explosive Implant
This implant is surgigally installed inside a prisoner, typically into left hipbone. Trying to remove it breaks the seal; any contact with air or water triggers the explosive, equivalent to a TL10 15mm HE warhead (damage 3d cr ex [1d-1]). The implant contains an inertial compass, secure radio, GPS transmitter and a tiny computer – none of them usable by the wearer. The radio and computer constantly broadcast the prisoner's exact coordinates. A coded signal can detonate the explosive, incapacitating or killing the wearer.
The implant gets power from the subject's movement and body heat. An alert is transmitted if the subject's body temperature drops below a certain point (below 35 °C / 95 °F for humans) and a patrol might be sent to investigate. A Faraday's cage also prevents transmissions, but a patrol can be sent to the last known coordinates.
Removing and disarming the implant requires appropriate tools, means to avoid exposing the device to air or water, a Surgery-2, and a Traps-4 roll; failure means the device explodes. $600, 0.2 lbs. LC2.
